# HostelHound

> HostelHound tracks hostel dorm and private-room prices across cities on the backpacker trail. We scrape Hostelworld's public availability calendar daily and publish price history, price calendars, and (for a subset of dates) price-drop forecasts.

- Prices are per dorm bed or private room, per night, recorded in US dollars. The currency selector on the site only changes display formatting.
- Data updates daily. Each city and property page shows a "last updated" date reflecting our most recent scrape of that page's data.
- Price-drop forecasts are qualitative (likely to drop / likely to stay the same) and forward-tested against realized outcomes before being shown; we do not publish exact probabilities.
