Nimmanhaemin Road (Nimman) is quieter and more cafe-heavy, worth it if you have a scooter and want to skip the backpacker strip.

Rent a scooter from any shop on Moonmuang Road for a low daily rate. It unlocks Doi Suthep, the outer night markets, and the whole city far faster than red songthaews.
Eat breakfast at Chiang Mai Gate Market on the south side of the moat. Tom yum and khao tom for next to nothing, mostly locals, done by 9am.
