HostelHound policies
Terms of Service
These terms describe the ground rules for using HostelHound's website, account features, memberships, and optional MCP connection.
Effective September 16, 2026
The service
HostelHound provides hostel price history, calendars, forecasts, and trip-planning tools for travel research. Price and availability information is informational: it may be delayed, incomplete, estimated, or changed by the accommodation provider. Check the linked property or provider before making a booking decision.
HostelHound is not a booking agent, travel agency, payment processor, or emergency travel service. The site does not guarantee a price, room, availability, prediction, or booking outcome.
Accounts and memberships
Keep your account information accurate and protect links or sessions sent to you. You are responsible for activity performed through your account. Do not attempt to access another person's account or use HostelHound to bypass a provider's controls.
Some features are available through a supporter membership. Membership payments are processed by Ko-fi, and cancellation or payment questions must be handled through your Ko-fi account. The membership page explains the current feature tiers.
MCP connection and permissions
The optional MCP connector starts in ChatGPT and uses OAuth consent. Use only the
capabilities you approve: catalog:read for HostelHound lookups and trips:prepare for trip-preparation preview. Depending on the client flow, these are represented as
delegated OAuth scopes or as a Search or Search and prepare trips choice bound to a signed
grant. You may disconnect at any time from Connectors.
A trips:prepare result is a limited,
expiring preview for you to review in the browser. It does not book, purchase, or share
a trip, and it does not save a trip until you explicitly review and choose the website's
save action. ChatGPT or another client cannot use the connector to create an unapproved
booking or payment.
Acceptable use
Use the service lawfully and respectfully. Do not probe, overload, scrape around access controls, misrepresent your identity, submit malicious content, or use results to make decisions that require guaranteed or real-time data. Do not share private account details, authentication codes, or OAuth tokens with a client or another person.
We may limit or suspend access when needed to protect the service, users, data, or providers. We may change or discontinue a feature; material policy changes will be reflected on this page.
Questions and support
For questions about these terms or the connector, email [email protected] and see Support & contact. Please do not send access tokens, authorization codes, passwords, or session cookies.
