Lagoa da Conceição is where most backpackers land. Hostels cluster near Avenida das Rendeiras and along the lagoon, with easy bus access to both ocean beaches and the city center via TILAG. Barra da Lagoa, a short walk or bike ride east, is quieter and a bit cheaper, with a fishing-village feel and direct ocean access.

Getting around
