Lonely Beach (Hat Tha Nam) on the southwest coast is where most backpackers land. Guesthouses and small hostels sit along the road behind the beach, and it's noticeably cheaper than the busier White Sand Beach (Hat Sai Khao) strip up north.
Getting around
- Songthaews, the shared pickup trucks that run the west coast road, charge a small fare per leg. Use them to reach Klong Plu waterfall or Bang Bao pier instead of paying for a private transfer.
