Where to stay

Puerto Nariño is a car-free town where everything sits within walking distance of the river dock and the main plaza. Most budget accommodations cluster along the waterfront and the main streets radiating from the dock, keeping you close to the speed boats and the few local eateries. Staying near the river is essential since all transport and tour departures happen from the dock.

Getting around

• The only way to reach Puerto Nariño is by speed boat from Leticia. Tickets sell out, especially for the early morning departure, so book in advance and bring your ID for purchase. The ride takes about two hours and passes scenic spots like Isla de los Micos.
• There are no ATMs and card payments are almost nowhere accepted. Withdraw enough Colombian pesos in Leticia before you leave, as you will need cash for everything from boat rides to guide rentals and meals.
• The town is a hub for jungle activities. You can hire local guides for walks, take boats to Lago Tarapoto to see pink dolphins, or visit the Mirador Naipata tower for views over the Amazon canopy. Check if the Isla de los Micos reserve is open before planning a visit.

When to go

Prices and availability are tightest during the town anniversary festival at the end of March and during the dry season when jungle trails are most accessible. The rainy months can offer lower rates but make some walking paths muddy and harder to navigate.
